PLACING AN ORPHAN FOAL OR ZEBRA WITH US

If you are reading this page then you have already come to the difficult decision to give up your beloved pet for what ever reason that may be beyond your control. We understand that it was not easy for you to make this decision. You probably have been struggling with the "what ifs." What if the new owners can not provide for my foal or Zebra?  What if the new owners can not tolerate my pets habits good and bad? What if the new owners do not have the patience for my pet? And the most terrifying thought is. What if the new owners do not love my pet enough or resell it?

We at THUNDER HILL RESCUE do our best to make this decision as comfortable as possible. We interview the owners placing their pet over the phone. We gather any and all information about their pet and the lifestyle it is use to. We find out what brought them to the point of having to part with their pet. If it is a situation that can be rectified to where they are able to keep their pet, provide the best of care and not place it then we give guidance. If there is no other solution but placing their pet in a new home, then we make this as comfortable on the owners and the foals and Zebras as we can.

We gladly give the owners as much information about us and how we operate. They have a right to know all about the organization that promises to forever take good care of their beloved pet. We also supply references and encourage people to check those references. Anyone can say they have references. It is your job as the pet's owner to check those references to make sure they are legitimate. There is nothing wrong in asking what a rescue plans on doing with your pet and how qualified they are. Ask many questions to make sure the rescue organization has experience and the means to properly care for your pet.

Once you are ready to place your pet with us, we then decide who among our applications would be the best home for your pet.

The organization will always watch over the care of these foals and Zebras and the people adopting understand that these animals in their care can never be sold or given away. The animals must always remain under the watchful care of Thunder Hill Rescue to make sure the animals are always properly cared for and loved.

We keep all information about the previous owner and adopter confidential.  We understand and respect your privacy.  We also keep in confidence the names of where we purchase the foals from that were headed for the slaughterhouse.  Everyone is entitled to their privacy.
