ORPHAN FOAL & ZEBRA RESCUE

Volunteer Help

We are in need of volunteers.  If you would like to help please read over our list below and tell us how you would like to help.  We very much appreciate volunteers.  Without volunteers we could not accomplish all that we do.

                a) fund raising.  This is an area we really need help with. None of us have the time or know how to raise the much needed funds.  The formula and milk pellets alone are very expensive. Vet bills can quickly climb. Foals are very delicate for the first month or so and they can take a turn for the worst in a matter of hours.

                        b) help transport foals and Zebras to us.

                        c) we also need experienced people to help give the foals attention and training.

                 d) help clean stalls.

                 e) someone who can donate their time and expense to haul manure away.

                 f) people to help put up fencing

                 g) we need people to visit horse supply stores in their area to see if the store is willing to donate items to our rescue.  We have fliers you can give out to these businesses.  You would then have the expense of shipping the items to our Medina, Ohio location or delivering them in person, which ever is better for you.  Hopefully the cost should not be that much and we would be very grateful.

Most people do not know that most rescues do not receive much in the way of monetary donations or supplies.  Most often the people running the rescue deplete their own finances to support the rescue.  Sadly many rescues across the country quickly go under due to their finances depleted and lack of funds.  Many people think, and I am guilty of this too, that I don't have to worry, I am sure someone else will help.  The problem is far too many people think that way and wait for someone else to help.  Someone else never does.  You have to keep in mind, the more money a rescue has, the more animals they can save.  If you are worried about money being misused by a rescue follow some of these points:

  • Ask for references

  • Ask how long the rescue has been in operation

  • Ask how much rescue experience they have

  • Donate supplies instead of money

  • Donate funds directly to their veterinary account

We Sincerely thank you for your support.  The animals also thank you from the bottom of their hearts.  Just think, with your help another animal is saved possibly from a fate WORSE than death.
